Normal blood sugar aided by fat cells

It is a little difficult to see if this means people with more fat cells are healthier or what. If fat cells that work effeciently help protect from diabetes, then do we need more of them to be healthy or less in quantity but more efficient cells?

Take a look at the fat cells and diabetes article from the Times of India. Here is a snippet from that article:

“In the last decade, several research groups have shown that fat cells in people play a major role in controlling healthy blood sugar and insulin levels throughout the body.”
